Pakistan Girl Guides Association National Headquarters organized the 12th All Pakistan Camp for Girl Guides in Islamabad from 22nd to 27th October 2023. The theme of the Camp was “Building Resilience”. The Camp was organized in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan.
280 Guides and Leaders from the far flung areas of AJK, Baluchistan, Punjab, KP, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) participated. The areas included: Quetta, Sibi, Turbat, Gilgit, Skardu, Ghizer, Hunza, Chitral, Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Sukkur, Lahore, Multan, Vehari, Attock, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Sheikupura, Wah Cannt, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.
Sessions on Emergency Preparedness by Rescue 1122 & Civil Defense, Self Defense by Islamabad Police, Substance abuse by Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation, Health and hygiene, self-protection, nutrition, Emotional Resilience, breaking gender stereotypes, Composting & waste Management and practicing Leadership by UNICEF, and Art & Crafts were part of the camp.
Guides enjoyed a hike in Fatima Jinnah Park F/9 on 26th October, 2023. During the hike, they participated in different activities of Nature observation.
The closing ceremony of the camp was held on 27th November 2023. Dr. Inoussa Kabore was the Chief Guest. Mrs. Maria Maud Sabri, National Commissioner Pakistan Girl Guides Association welcomed the guests and Guides and informed them about the activities held during the Camp.
She said that this year’s camp attempts to respond to the environmental catastrophes that Pakistan has faced with its theme of Building Resilience.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Inoussa Kabore appreciated the enthusiasm of the Guides. While addressing the Guides he appreciated their preparedness for emergencies. He also cherished the theme of the camp and emphasized highlighting the talents of girls for a prosperous society.
Grand Campfire was held on the night of 27th October 2023. Guides shared cultural performances and regional songs of their respective areas.
